How Samui's is currently dealing with COVID-19
Summary of how Ko Samui has been dealing with COVID-19 situation:
Over 70% of the population in Ko Samui, including foreign residents, and its neighboring islands, Phangan & Tao are vaccinated which has been the target rate to create a "Heard Immunity".
Samui has a capacity of nearly 600 hospital and field hospital beds for all 3 colors of patients: Red (Severe), Yellow (Average) & Green (Mild)
COVID-19 laboratory facilities for Ko Samui can test for 1,200 people per day.
Domestic visitors screening: Samui has been screening visitors from risky areas: Dark Red & Red zone by asking for a COVID test or for a certificate of vaccine against COVID, to create confidence among residents and tourists who travel to Samui.
Samui Plus Sandbox for international tourists starting from October 1, 2021 reduced the minimum period of staying in the area from 14 to 7 days in so called SHA+ accommodations certified by Ministry of Health Department. After the 7 days, tourists can travel freely in other parts of Thailand.
Vaccine Green Zone, is a local campaign to allow approved restaurants to serve alcohol if they meet certain criteria such as vaccination and regular testing of staff.
Number of COVID Case : 671 cases since March 2020 as of 6 Oct 2021. (Most of the cased are imported from outside of the island)
